Our question is: What was art in ancient rome like?

Before our research

Before we research the question we think that they had sculptures as their art.We thought it would be similar to greek art.

What we learned from the website

• We used http://www.kyrene.org/schools/brisas/sunda/arthistory/rome.htm found out different art forms. We found out that they made murals and that many roman emperors had murals on the walls of their palace. They had architecture as another art form. The Triumphal Arch of Tibias was made with arches and columns of different shapes and size and they did that to make it more interesting and different. They also made statues. They made the statues life-like. They mostly made the statues of gods and goddesses , emperors and important people. They made head busts and shoulder busts of emperors. They were called portraits.

What we learned from the book

• From our book (Ancient Rome: history in art) we found out that people can learn a lot about the romans from their art because we can see in their sculptures and paintings details in how they dress and their hairstyles. We learned that ancient rome's architecture was influenced by the Greeks. The ancient romans copied the style of Greek temples. They copied the styles of the columns.

conclusion

• Our conclusion was that in ancient rome they had a variety of art forms and styles. Also we were right in the beginning when we predicted that they had statues because they made statues of emperors and other important people.
